Client Case Study: Provider Onboarding Solutions
The organization has nearly 2,000 physicians between its primary care network and faculty practice plan.
Like many faculty practice plans and physician organizations that have evolved over the years, Penn Medicine had created and maintained many tax IDs for professional billing services. More than 30 different tax IDs were in use, with all the revenue ultimately being owned by the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania. The significant increase in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integration, along with increasing regulatory requirements focusing on quality (Meaningful Use, Value-Based Modifier, etc.), rendered the existing structure unworkable. Reporting patient services under different tax IDs did not properly reflect Penn Medicine’s integrated approach to the care they provide their patients.
Needing help with the huge task of paring down its faculty practice plan tax ID numbers from 32 to one, Penn Medicine partnered with TractManager to get the job done.
