Total Value Management: Cost, Standardization Focus
Share

At the Cost, Standardization Focus stage of a hospital’s value analysis process, technological standardization has commenced, but it is limited to a small number of similar products. With the goal of waste reduction, the process begins a gradual movement from chaos to a more transactional approach. Stakeholders from different departments begin to collaborate in decision-making, but the possibility remains that different approaches to the introduction of information could heighten tension. The need to standardize the process becomes apparent.

Once a hospital has reached this stage, it is all too easy to regress to the previous stage. To avoid this fate, it needs to implement process management technologies and protocols, and enlist physicians to lead the charge.
